It has been a while since I've updated my blog seeing it is so much easier to post images on Facebook. But with Facebook, there is always the online debate of 'who owns the copyright to the images?'. Hence that is why I prefer to keep Facebook image posts to a minimum.
It also takes me about half a day to think of what I am going to write and I'm not really one for words.
So, without filling this blog with too more text, here are more shots with Karyn at Truby King Gardens in Newtown. :)

A Valentines Day Wedding

Here is my first wedding of the year with the incredibly sweet couple, Victor and Debbie.

Victor is an all round nice guy and a gentleman. He is able to light up Debbie's eyes every time he walks into the room;
and Debbie who is incredibly sweet and fun loving, brings a sense of completeness to Victor.

I loved photographing Victor and Debbie. I could feel their love, every time they looked into each others eyes, it was MAGICAL.
It made it effortless to capture those tender moments.

The speeches were fun to listen to, about Victor asking his mother for permission to see if it was okay to date Debbie. :)
Overall I would sum it up as a really sweet wedding; full of fun, joy, laughter, and memories. The Perfect Wedding Day.

Reuben makes pizza

Here is my 3 year old son Reuben (yes, the real Reuben ;p) during the school holidays. Our little master chef made us some delicious Smoked Salmon and Dill Pizza.

This goes in line with the Montessori philosophy of teaching the child to be independent and do things for themselves.

On my side, I was learning how to film and edit a video using close ups, mid shots, framing etc. Still a long way to go. Everyone has to start some where. :)

Amelia - Baby Shoot

Here is my first attempt at newborn photography with the birth of my daughter, Amelia.

Who knew there would be so many moving parts to taking a baby photo, room temperature at 28 degrees, heart beat monitor, and looking at props and asking 'Can she fit in that?'. ;P

Kudos to all those professional baby photographers out there, it is way trickier than it looks, especially when the baby is awake.

My inspiration was award winning Australian newborn photographer Kelly Brown.

Couples Shoot - Roberta & Byron

Welcome to 2014!

This was my very first photo shoot to kick off the New Year. This was a dual shoot. A couples shoot with Beautiful Brazilian Roberta and South African boyfriend Byron, and a collaboration shoot with Fiona Wu from A & F Freya Wedding who supplied the gorgeous dresses.
Also, Big thanks to Keane Chan (www.keanechan.com) for letting me use his Canon 70-200 lens.

Photos were taken at Oriental Bay and Botanical Gardens.

An Intimate Wedding

Weddings don't get more intimate than this; the Bride (Seraphina), the Groom (Josh), the Flower Girl (Mya), the Celebrant (Bernadette Buckley), my assistant (Jojo Sexton) and I.

I loved working with this couple, Josh & Seraphina, both highly creative people. Josh is an aspiring film maker, always full of ideas and Seraphina, a costume designer, practical and grounded.
I was amazed that Seraphina designed and made her own wedding dress, did her own hair and makeup, and made her own wedding cake with some help from Josh. And she did an AMAZING job!

There had been a big wedding planned in May 2014, but in October 2013 a few weeks before I shot this wedding, I got a call "We're Eloping! and its a SECRET!" They came up with an incredible location at Peka Peka beach a week before the wedding.

Chinese Opera

This was my first behind-the-scenes performance art events shoot a few years back. I was invited to shoot the show by fellow photographer Keane Chan. Keane was my 'technical advisor' when I was first starting out in photography. Anything to do with gear and technical stuff, he was the go-to guy. Natalie - Portrait of a Performance Artist

Here is a portrait shoot I did with the SUPER AMAZING multi-talented musician - Natalie Hunt.

I LOVE all these shots and would have happily used them ALL for my portfolio pieces...but the 'experts' say I may confuse my target market which is Engagements and Weddings. The truth is, I just love capturing peoples natural expressions and emotions.

What's in a texture?

I've been busy scouring the neighbourhood for all kinds of textures.

Recently, my old hard drive decided it wasn't going to work any more, so I lost my entire texture collection that I had been collecting over the years. Textures can make an otherwise ordinary image visually interesting. I have been categorizing my textures into various groups such as clouds, concrete, flaky paint, light leaks, metal, moisture, stone and wood.

Here are a few quick photo samples of what can be achieved with textures.
